Strange Dream

Not the most pleasant dream in the early hours of the morning. It dealt with a plane crash but more of that later.

This weekend finally is supposed to have less than triple digit highs. Great time to transplant Prickly pear and Hayley Comet cuttings. Too early to plant vegetables or for the grape cutting that is showing new growth. I have several Moringa plants coming up but for now I'm just going to let them be.

Sometime in the early Hours I dreamt I was in a room with several healthy and alert horses. Then I was in a woody area and commenting to someone how close the airport was. Next a jet took off flying north but actually to the south. It was rapidly rising in the sky and then seemingly pausing. It shifted to the left and I thought noise abatement. Then I noticed it was coming down fast in a ball. I covered my eyes and heard a crash. Strange as the flight was out of Colorado but  over shallow water. Several people in medical garb were walking out of the water. That was the end of the dream.

Horses represent strength so that was a good sign as was the ascension of the plane. Water often deals with the emotions. I'm not sure how to interpret the crash or the medical people but that's for another day. Dreams can be fascinating and usually I am an observer only. For some reason I covered my eyes which indicates an emotional response.

Say Yes to Ebooks, Looking for my learn hebrew books

Here is another and excellent reason why I prefer ebooks. I cannot find my hardcopys of the books listed below, books that are not available in ebook format. Now if these were Kindle formal I would just go to my Amazon account and download them. "Biblical Hebrew Home Study" and "God's Secrets Only Hebrew Can Reveal - 145 Revelations That English Bibles Have Kept in the Dark" by Dr. Danny Ben-Gigi I have Dr. Danny Ben-Gigi's audio CD and Hebrew/English Phonetic CD that came with the books copied to my computer, however, they are meant to be studied along with the books. As the weather cools off I'll look in my storage sheds for them. God willing... It's three years since I bought these two books that are still lost. I did more studying then I thought. Even without the books I had copied good information to my computer. This includes The New Testament in Hebrew and English plus Transliteration, Hebrew words spelled with English words. YouTube has a lots of goodies including audios to listen to in your sleep. Many a night I slept through hours of English followed by Hebrew. Apparently I got distracted as Covid became all the news and I was very involved in the 2020 election. So Hebrew was put on the shelf. So why now the interest? I rather think Hebrew will be the language used in Heaven. So why not get a head start?

My Polio Story

It all started shortly after the start of first grade. I had a horrific headache and rigid neck and was sent home from school. This was in 1947, several years before the polio vaccine was available. My mother was a registered nurse and likely had an idea of what was going on with my body. I don't remember much until the next day but Mom said that she took me into her bed that night and I think she said I was burning up with fever but I can't remember.

The next day I had a spinal tap that didn't hurt amazingly enough. It was performed by dr. Paul Kilmer who was my mother's boss as she worked in his office for years. Well it was polio so the next thing I was in an ambulance taking a 70-mile trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan. I was taken to Blodgett Hospital and subjected to a second spinal tap this time I very painful spinal tap. I remember there was a window washer and he heard me screaming in pain and looked so compassionately up through the window.

Later in the day or early evening I was nearly undressed and two nurses or therapist put me through a series a physical test. I had total movement of my body. They had me bending over and doing turns and such. At that point there was no paralysis. I slept that night and the next morning my mother was visiting and had a friend with her. I was laying in bed and I remember picking up my left wrist and telling my mom I can't move anything on my left side. My left arm and left leg were totally paralyzed. Years later I sent for some of my records and found out that after two weeks I could walk with help, however, I was supposed to be on complete bed rest.

As I recall, I spent two weeks at Blodgett Hospital during what would have been considered the more contagious part of the disease. After two weeks I was transferred to a children's Rehabilitation facility called Mary Free Bed. There I had the sister Kenny hot pad treatment. The packs were so hot they nearly seared my skin but they did keep my muscles from seizing. I remember I had a cold and at that time penicillin was far more viscous than today and had to be given every 3 hours. I was having a hot pack session and I thought a nurse was coming towards me with a blue pen in her hand. No pen, it was a hypodermic needle and I got a shot of penicillin in my posterior. I don't remember the rest of the shots but they did hurt.

While we were mostly children's at Mary Free Bed there was a woman there who was really bedridden and she had polio once before and then contracted again and it just wiped her out. It's funny even at 6 years old I felt sympathy for her. I remember one little girl who did not have polio, rather she had lost her 2 feet and I'm not sure how much of her legs. She had a doctor helping her with learning to use her prosthesis. The doctor had two artificial arms possibly from the war. I remember this courageous little girl wrote a tricycle and I think possibly roller skated.

Like I said we were supposed to be on bed rest but after three months I found out I could walk, not only could I walk I could run. Although my left leg still has a few minor effects of olio such as a little bit of a drop foot and downward turning of the ankle, I was ambulatory. My left hand and arm were a different story. Even after four reconstructive surgeries the best part of my hand is my little finger which is almost normal. My thumb literally sticks out like a sore thumb but I'm very protective of it.

I had a few small victories while at Mary Free Bed. I'm not sure what I did both times but I actually was restrained because I was being rather naughty. One of my fondest memories is getting ahold of a roll of toilet paper and getting to the third floor of Mary Free Bed. I looked down the stairwell and holding on the toilet paper, I let it unroll all the way to the first floor. I don't think the nurses were too mad at me but I remember being restrained in a chair until I settled down.

Being in Michigan, we had a number of snow storms. Family was only allowed to visit once a week, on Sunday. I was told I had a phone call and it was my mother telling me the weather was too bad and she couldn't make the trip. I cried and I said I just knew you weren't coming today. I don't know who was more broken hearted of the two of us. I don't remember the occasion, possibly Christmas, we were sending cards to our mothers. I wrote the word mother on the envelope with the card and gave it to the nurse to mail. By the time Mom received it in the mail mother had been crossed out in the proper address was added. I don't know why the mailman wouldn't know where Mom was I sure did.

The Shriners were good to us kids in the hospital. One time they took us to the circus and I had two cotton candies and threw up. At Christmas time they gave us Toys and mine was a little Kewpie doll. After I was released from the hospital I was playing with the Kewpie doll at my friends house. Her father was the local Baptist pastor and by mistake he stepped on my doll and of course felt really bad for breaking up. Strange the things you remember.

From Feb 19, 2019 Partial cornea transplant

I'm pretty much staying home and avoiding crowds (germs) as my partial  cornea  transplant surgery is a week from today. Interestingly enough February 26th is my half birthday, my birthday being August 26th.

Last Friday I had a checkup to make sure I was physically fit for surgery. Actually it's outpatient surgery but I'm grateful they're being cautious.

As I've written before, cataract surgury combined with a hereditary disease called Fuch's dystrophy caused my current vision problem. A partial cornea transplant due to this disease statistically has a good outcome. Believe me I'm praying for that as I have a cataract in my right eye that will have to be removed eventually. Hopefully it won't be a repeat of this left eye drama but possibly it would be.

It appears that I inherited Fuch's Dystrophy from my mother as for several years before her death she was using the same eye drops that I have for the last four or five years. 25 or 30 years ago her eye surgeon in Palm Desert, California removed her cataracts but I don't recall anything being said about any cornea disease. After her cataract surgery I can remember Mom saying it was like she was looking through a sheer curtain which is exactly how I would describe it. She also had macular degeneration but again I think her surgeon totally missed a potential cornea problem. From what I've read, Macular degeneration is a loss of center vision rather than trying to look through a sheer curtain. Just saying.

Since it looks like this disease is on Mom's side of the family I'd like to remind my Berger and Wekenman cousins to discuss this with their eye specialist, especially as we all get older.

I am so grateful for all the prayers from friends and family all these months. To be continued.

As America has done to Israel

I wrote this shortly before the election of 2016 in which, and in my opinion, God gave us a do-over for four years. President Trump was a friend to Israel and moved the Embassy to Jerusalem, however, his son-in-law not so good for Israel.

How have/ are the leaders in America assisting Gentiles to divide the land of Israel. 525 - 3 - 5

Where to begin! Possible first cause, referring to Islam as a peaceful religion and referring to Israel as occupiers.
First a brief case for Israel belonging to God’s chosen people.
Genesis 17: 7, “And I will establish My covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant to be God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.”
I Chronicles 16: 13-18, “O ye seed of Israel His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen ones. He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth. Be ye mindful always of His covenant; the word which He commanded to a thousand generations; Even of the covenant which He made with Abraham, and of His oath unto Isaac; And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant, Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.”
Every world power that has controlled and/ or occupied the land of Israel has become a former world power, or has lost power, such as Rome and Britain. Now America is losing her position as a world power.
And it’s not just other countries that have harmed Israel, just in America there are the foxes in the hen house. In 2012 former Israel, Prime Minister Ehur Olmert supported Palestine U.N. bid to become an “observer-state.” Years earlier in his book written in 2006 Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel William Koenig asked, “What will happen to Ehud Olmert?  We have documented in great detail what has happened to previous U.S. Presidents, Israeli Prime Ministers, and Arab leaders who have attempted to divide the land of Israel. Only the God of Israel knows the future of Ehud Olmert and recent history says it won’t go well for him.” Actually, two years later Mr. Olmert was sentenced to six years in prison for bribery.
During 2011 President Obama took the position that Israel should return to the 1967 lines leaving Israel with nearly indefensible borders. Of course, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused spoiling Obama’s hope for the legacy of being a peace maker.
In speaking to a room full of influential world leaders in a closed-door meeting earlier this year Secretary of State John Kerry said “If there’s no two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict soon, Israel risks becoming an apartheid state.” [www.thepoliticalinsider.com] Mr. Secretary, I strongly suggest that you read your Bible. In the above mentioned Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel William Koenig lists disasters that have happened to America after harassing Israel into giving up land for peace. For example, during the Bush II administration Israel gave up the Gaza Strip and God gifted us with Hurricane Katrina.
I posted this a few days before the Presidential Election of 2012. “Obama victory would mean ‘difficulties’ for Israelis in Judea and Samaria, Knesset Speaker warns.”
“Obama’s diplomatic approach is well known from experience,” he said. “If the current [American] administration is elected a second time, then alongside the positive cooperation, the next [Israeli] government will have difficulties, both in terms of security and in terms of diplomacy, regarding everything involved in strengthening settlements.” [http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/161522]
In two weeks, there will be a president elected. Will the POTUS be another of Obama’s ilk or it be the candidate who supports Israel and says he’ll move our embassy to Jerusalem.

Post Polio C19

I belong to a fb group dealing with Post Polio Syndrome. In 2020 members were told any discussion of c19 would get us kicked off. Later the restriction applied to discussion of the c19 shot.

There is lots of good information and members supporting members. Something of a family. Sadly lacking any discussion concerning the c19 shot, just a recommendation to get it.

The question of the recent case of polio came up and I couldn't resist commenting, "This is not the world of the 1950s, it's the post 1988 world. I realize this deals with the United States, however, I expect it has an international impact.

According to 42 U.S. Code § 300aa–22, "No vaccine manufacturer shall be liable ina civil action for damages arising from a vaccine-related injury or death associated with the administration of a vaccine after October 1, 1988, if the injury or death resulted from side effects that were unavoidable even though the vaccine was properly prepared and was accompanied by proper directions and warnings."

In other words, companies that manufacture vaccines are not liable if someone has an allergic reaction or injury after being vaccinated."

No bugs for me rather plants as meat substitutes - Young Jackfruit

I take the current Biden administration seriously when they say we may be eating bugs instead of meat. No thanks, not for me. Not even chocolate covered grasshoppers.

Full disclosure, I do like escargo and a few other rather strange seafoods but I draw the line at bugs.

Product Description

Native Forest Organic Young Jackfruit (aka Jakfruit) are grown in lush organic orchards on the beautiful island country of Sri Lanka.
